Communications

Gillingham has good road access to the A303 enabling good east to west communications for businesses based in the town. Routes to the North, North West and North East can be easily reached via the A350 and A46 or A303 and A34. Birmingham, for instance, is only two hours by car. The route south to the Port of Poole is by the A350 and to Southampton or Portsmouth by the A303 and A34. To the west the Port of Plymouth for Brittany and Spain is just over two hours by car via the A303 and M5.

For business travellers who need access to London, South West Trains' service from Gillingham takes under two hours to Waterloo and Eurostar. This route gives access to both Heathrow and Gatwick by rail interchange at Woking and Clapham Junction respectively. Trains to the west serve Exeter in about 90 minutes and departures in each direction are approximately hourly, except on Sundays.

The airports at Southampton, Bristol and Bournemouth are within approximately a one hour drive of Gillingham. Southampton Airport can be reached by rail, changing at Salisbury for the Portsmouth line.

Local buses offer a regular service during the day between Gillingham, Mere and Shaftesbury and a daily service to Bournemouth, Dorchester and Yeovil.
